April 26, 2017
In 2010, the Marcello Giordani Foundation was established to help young opera singers at the beginning of their career. As part of the Foundation’s mission, the first annual Marcello Giordani Voice Competition was created and held in Sicily in 2011. In 2013 and 2014, the Italy competition was joined with competitions in the United States, and in 2015 the Annual Competition was held in Marcello’s hometown of Augusta.
2017 will mark the sixth year of Concorso Giordani, and the third held in the United States. With more than 120 singers from across the globe participating each year, the Marcello Giordani Voice Competition is recognized as an important step in the career of the next generation of great opera singers.
