Lucia di Lammermoor
An outstanding graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts, Philadelphia, Zach Borichevsky recently made an acclaimed European operatic debut as Rodolfo (La bohème) with Finnish National Opera under Michael Güttler. This season Zach makes his UK operatic debut as Alfredo (La traviata) with Glyndebourne Touring Opera.
Additional highlights this season include role debuts as Lensky (Eugene Onegin) with Arizona Opera, Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) with Opera Carolina and Toledo Opera under James Meena, and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) for Teatro Municipal Santiago de Chile. Further ahead Zach makes debuts with both the Metropolitan Opera as Edmondo (Manon Lescaut) and English National Opera as Rodolfo in (La bohème).
Recent role debuts have included Matteo (Arabella) for the Sante Fe Festival in Tim Albery’s production conducted by Sir Andrew Davis, Roméo in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with Arizona Opera (a role he later reprised at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago under Yves Abel), Tamino in Die Zauberflöte with Boston Lyric Opera under David Angus and Jonathan Dale in the East Coast premiere of Kevin Puts’ Silent Night for Opera Philadelphia. Zach has also performed with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Glimmerglass Opera and at the Castleton Festival under the baton of the late Lorin Maazel.
In concert he has joined the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw as Lazarus in the Dutch premiere of John Adams' The Gospel According to the Other Mary conducted by Markuz Stenz. He made his debuts at the Aspen Music Festival with Britten’s Nocturne under Nicholas McGegan and at Festival de Radio France et Montpellier with Rachmaninov’s The Bells under Santtu-Matias Rouvali, and sang his first performances of Britten’s War Requiem with the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra under Lan Shui.
Zach Borichevsky has been honoured with a number of awards from organisations including the George London Foundation, The Metropolitan Opera National Council, Gerda Lissner Foundation, Opera Index, Mario Lanza Foundation, Shreveport Opera and Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation. Most recently Zach won second prize at the Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition for Young Opera Singers 2013 and third prize at Plácido Domingo’s 2013 Operalia Competition.
