Christina Pier

A recipient of numerous honors and awards, soprano Christina Pier has begun a promising career. A Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, she has also received the Gilbert Artist Award from Florida Grand Opera, a George London Award, a Sullivan Award, and two Palm Beach Opera Competition Awards. In addition, she received the Anna Case Mackay Grant from the Santa Fe Opera and a Sosenko Trust Grant. Last season Ms. Pier performed the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro with the Minnesota Opera and Micaela in Carmen at the Princeton Festival, as well as understudied the roles of Iphigenie in Iphigenie en Tauride and Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. In previous seasons, Ms. Pier made her professional debut as Donna Anna with the Santa Fe Opera in a new production directed by Chas Rader-Schieber and conducted by Alan Gilbert. She made role debuts as Micaela in Carmen and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at Florida Grand Opera. At Florida Grand Opera, Ms. Pier also performed Annina in La Traviata, and Sara in Szulamit. Christina Pier was a Young American Artist with the Florida Grand Opera in 2004. She was also a Young Artist with the Glimmerglass Opera in 2003 and an Apprentice Artist with the Santa Fe Opera in 2002. Originally from Flagstaff, AZ, Ms. Pier received training at Indiana University where she studied with Virginia Zeani.
