Kallen Esperian

American soprano Kallen Esperian is one of the leading sopranos of our times, performing at the world's pre-eminent opera houses and concert halls. Following her Debut as Cio-Cio-San at the Nederlandse Opera, Miss Esperian was Madama Butterfly at the Metropolitan Opera in 2004-2005, followed by Alice Ford in Falstaff at the Los Angeles Opera, and Tosca in Memphis. In demand as a concert artist, Miss Esperian was heard in recital and concerts in Oslo, Leipzig, Sacramento, and Memphis. Recent seasons have brought her role debuts as Aida and Tosca at the Semperoper in Dresden and the title role of Norma in Cleveland. In the 2005-06 season and beyond Miss Esperian will debut the title role of Salome for the Opera Company of North Carolina, followed by Cio-Cio San for the New Orleans Opera, Opera Carolina in Charlotte, and the Nashville Opera as well as concerts in Johnstown, Memphis, and Mexico City. She will return to Memphis in 2006-07 to debut the role of Carmen. Career highlights for Miss Esperian have included the Metropolitan Opera Opening Night Gala in 1993 with Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo, Desdemona to Mr. Domingo's Otello with the Opéra National de Paris, and Lina for La Scala's first-ever Stiffelio opposite José Carreras. Miss Esperian has been heard as Desdemona at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Liu in Turandot, Desdemona, and Alice Ford in Falstaff for the Lyric Opera of Chicago, both Desdemona and Amelia in Simon Boccanegra) at the Royal Opera Covent Garden, and Marguerite in Faust at the Deutsche Oper Berlin She has interpreted the title role in a new production of Puccini's Manon Lescaut at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Where she has also been heard as Amelia in Verdi's Un Ballo in maschera and Elisabetta in Don Carlo, under the baton of Zubin Mehta. The soprano joined the Opera Orchestra of New York as Desdemona in Otello at Carnegie Hall, and made role debuts of La Traviata at Opera Memphis and Norma for Pittsburgh Opera. After winning the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition in 1985, Kallen Esperian enjoyed successful debuts at the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli and at the Arena di Verona. Miss Esperian is a world renowned recitalist and concert artist. She has performed with many of the world's major orchestras and has sung numerous performances of the Verdi Requiem with several of the world's great conductors including: Sir Colin Davis, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Robert Shaw, Daniele Gatti, Daniel Oren, Myung-Whun Chung, and David Zinman. Miss Esperian can be seen in the DVD release of Verdi's Messa da requiem from Naples with Luciano Pavarotti. She was featured in the film 'Distant Harmony' while in China with Pavarotti, and has two CD's with the great Italian tenor on London/Decca. Her solo recording of American folk song, Kallen Esperian American Treasure was released on Pro Organ. Future releases include a Christmas CD, an aria album, and a popular song album Lover Come Back.
