There was extra excitement at Opera Carolina's annual Bella Notte fundraising gala, held Oct. 22 on the stage of Belk Theater. That's because many of the guests were still raving about Opera Carolina's thrilling season-opening performance of "Il Trovatore," and that one of its stars, acclaimed opera singer Denyce Graves, was performing at the gala. The stunning Paige Roselle, who chaired this year's event with her husband, Art, set the tone for the elegant evening by greeting guests before everyone sat down to a dinner catered by the Ritz-Carlton. The event chair always chooses a gift for attendees. Inspired by the opera's gypsy theme, each woman received a crystal bracelet in one of the gorgeous colors used throughout the décor including a peacock blue. The 300 patrons at the sold-out event danced to the Big Swing Orchestra from Atlanta, then kept the fun going at an après party called Club Bella Notte, also held on stage.
