High-flying animals of note

Over the weekend, Opera Carolina put on "Aida," which sometimes includes an elephant on stage. Meanwhile the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus was just a block away at Bobcats Arena. So did they consider ... "No, we did not borrow an elephant," says operatic marketing chief Jaimee Evans. "We do have a camel, a zebra, a white horse, a Watusi and a boa named Bruce." The circus and opera should've just had one big show. A Watusi is, yes, a dance from the '60s. And a kind of African cattle.
