Butterfly "Emerges" Thursday & Saturday-Special Reception For Opera Patrons To Madama Butterfly

Immerse yourself into the mysterious world of the Orient as the "Butterfly Emerges" unfolding into an exciting 2006 – 2007 Season for Opera Carolina! Join your fellow Madama Butterfly ticket holders at a special kick off party on Thursday, October 26 and Saturday, October 28. The events will take place on two evenings in the Spirit Room (enter at the corner of College and 5th Street) of the Center City Holiday Inn (230 North College) in downtown Charlotte. Festivities will take place from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday October 26 and from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Saturday October 28 and cost for the event is $ 15.00 per person.
European-trained Chef Ahmed Faloui has created a special Asian-inspired menu for Opera patrons: including Chicken Satee with Balsamic Glaze, Beef Kabob with Pinenut Sauce, Fresh Fig Puff Pastry with Chives Oriental Sauce, Shrimp Spring Rolls with Thai Sauce, Sesame Chicken with Sweet and Sour Sauce, Chicken Dumplings Soya Sauce and Crispy Calamari Steak with Zizola Sauce. In addition to a cash bar, guests will be able to enjoy samples of sake to complement this delicate cuisine. A special Opera Carolina guest - noted Japanese Calligrapher and teacher Emiko Mizumoto will be providing guests with their individualized notes in the ancient script which said to date back to the 3rd century B. C.

Opera Carolina's production of Madama Butterfly is made possible by Bob and Marjorie McDorman and the Hearst Corporation, performances will run from October 26 thru the 29 in the Belk Theater of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. The opera will be sung in Italian with projected English titles. All performances feature the Opera Carolina Chorus and The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.
