Opera Carolina Appoints Thorne to Chief Financial Officer

Charlotte, N.C., (August 5, 2009) - Opera Carolina, the leading professional opera company in the region, recently appointed Vanessa Thorne, CPA as its chief financial officer.

Vanessa's zeal for the financial industry and her experience with not-for-profit organizations made her the perfect candidate for this position," said General Director James Meena. "We are thrilled to have her on board."

Having more thank 15 years of experience, Thorne most recently was a senior assurance and advisory services associate with Grant Thornton LLP. Her responsibilities included preparing and executing not-for-profit financial statements to ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, and OMB A-133 regulations.

Thorne received her degree in accounting from State University of New York at Old Westbury, and is licensed in North Carolina and New York.
