New Season at Opera Carolina!

Opera Carolina opens a new season at the Belk Theatre of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte on October 18th, 20th and 21st. The production is Charles Gounod's operatic adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

WDAV's Jennifer Foster talks to soprano, Sari Gruber, and tenor, Gaston Rivero (Juliet and Romeo, respectively). They discuss the opera's hothouse romantic qualities, how they're bringing this 14th century tale set in Verona, Italy to life for modern audiences, and how the positive energy between cast members is contributing to the success of the production. Listen Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. on 89.9 WDAV, Classical Public Radio. Visit our Interview Archives page to hear earlier interviews and features. Get a sneak preview of Gaston Rivero at WDAV's blog, Classical Musings.
