"'Live from Lincoln Center' meets tag team wrestling" is how Opera Carolina General Director James Meena describes the new Valentine's concert - Love Notes being held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Dana Auditorium (Queens University)
Popular romances from the world's favorite operas and music theater will be performed in rapid succession - the music of Verdi and Cole Porter, Puccini and Gershwin, Wagner and Richard Rogers performed by some of Opera Carolina’s favorite artists, including:
Olivia Gorra star soprano from 2007 Pagliacci and La Vida Breve
Lori Philips who will sing the title role in Turandot with Opera Carolina in 2009
Adriana Zabala star mezzo soprano from 2006 Cinderella
Todd Geer star tenor from 2007 Pagliacci
Israel Lozano star tenor from 2007 La Vida Breve
James Valenti star tenor from 2007 Rigoletto
Mark Rucker star baritone from 2005 Macbeth
Kristopher Irimiter who will sing the title role in Don Giovanni with Opera Carolina in 2008
All of these artists are donating their time and talent to benefit Opera Carolina in this romantic evening that is sure to please opera lovers and new comers alike. Love Notes features the Charlotte Symphony under the direction of Opera Carolina Principal Conductor James Meena.
