Event description: Opera Carolina's production of Margaret Garner airs on WDAV's Carolina Live

The historical Margaret Garner was a Kentucky slave who became famous for killing her own daughter to save her from continued abuse at the hands of slave-owners. Her story became the basis for Toni Morrison's acclaimed novel "Beloved". Morrison also wrote the libretto for this moving opera by Grammy-winning composer Richard Danielpour. The production from Charlotte, NC, features Denyce Graves, who originated the title role.
